Schedule
The full schedule is posted here. It is subject to change as the weekend gets closer.
Friday Outreach
We will sing again for the clients of Choices Network, Inc., this time at 1:00 p.m. If you will be here in time, please add your name and part to the spreadsheet, and if you’ll need a ride.
We will sing in a large classroom at Salina Area Technical College. The building is right on Centennial Road.
Show
The show will be held on Saturday, June 20th at the University United Methodist Church, 1509 S Santa Fe Ave, Salina, KS. The time has not been finalized but it will likely be 2:00 or 2:30pm. We will plan to arrive beforehand, and help arrange carpools for anyone who didn’t drive.
Dress code for the concert is colorful, floral shirts or dresses, such as Hawaiian shirts or the like. Last year was hot, and we want to prioritize comfort.
Travel
We have put together a short travel coordination form to help connect people who need rides with people who have room in their car or are passing through the same airports on the way in or out. You should have an e-mail from Jason Ward, and you can contact him if you have additional questions.
Please fill it out here:
A few important things to know before you fill it out:
1. EVERYONE should submit a response, even if you already have your plans locked and no room for others. Knowing who has their own transportation helps us just as much as knowing who needs a ride.
2. The form is guided, it will skip sections that do not apply to you based on your answers, so it should only take a few minutes.
3. It covers both arrival (Thursday June 18 and Friday June 19) and departure (Sunday June 21), and includes options for flying, driving, and train travel.
4. We are asking everyone to submit by June 1st so we have time to review the results and send out ride-matching suggestions before the event.
Once we have all the responses, we will review everything and reach out with suggested driver/rider connections based on your airports, timing, and availability. From there, you can coordinate directly with each other, we are all adults and the details are yours to work out.
For those flying in, the most common airports are Wichita (ICT, about 1.5 hours south) and Kansas City (MCI, about 2.5 hours east). Uber and Lyft do operate in Salina but driver availability can be limited, so coordinating a shared ride in advance is a smart move. Rental cars at ICT are often the most practical option if you are coming in solo.
Alcohol
Outside alcohol is not permitted in the meeting rooms. There will be a cash-only bar available Saturday night for the afterglow, so bring some cash if you’d like to partake.
Packing Suggestions
The hotel air conditioning appears to be in great shape, so you probably don’t need to dress that lightly. But if you’re going to go outside, especially if you’re from more northern climes, I do recommend shorts or their like.
Texans will probably want a parka. It’s looking like high 70s for Friday and 90 for Saturday.
Youth Protection
There are minors participating in BotR 2026. The leadership team has completed protection-policy training. If someone looks a smidgen young be sure to only sing with them in completely public areas, avoid any personal questions including age, etc.
Hotel Information
The hotel was hit by a recent storm, and the Regency Room where we met last year sustained some damage. We may end up being moved to a different set of meeting rooms in the hotel.
Where shall we sing in quartets? :
1..The Duke Rooms will be divided into 3 rooms after dinner.
2. We have been assured that we are allowed to sing in all 6 of the hotel entryways.
3. We are permitted to sing in the courtyard and other common areas until 10 p.m. The sound is respectable, and not too echo-ey in the Courtyard, so multiple quartets can sing there.
4. We are permitted to sing in the restaurant if patrons are not disturbed/not there.
5. We may also have the Hospitality Room on Thursday and maybe Friday as a late addition. This is a meeting room about 30’ by 20’.
Additional meal/food/snack options:
The restaurant, Forks and Fingers, will be open. In addition to bar & grill food, there are Indian Food Options available. We have done our best to select meal options from the catering that people will enjoy. If you need something extra/different, welp, you are absolutely welcome to choose the restaurant.
Awards
Tramp, Super Tramp, and Busy Bee
In order to encourage everyone to sing with everyone we give out a Tramp Award every year. If you sing with everyone outside of your own part you win the Tramp award for that year. We provide a “dance card” with everyone’s name and part to help you track who you’ve sung with.
There are two additional awards for people who are so motivated. First, if you sing with everyone outside your part, you can additionally attempt to sing with everyone ON your part as well. If you do this, you earn the Super Tramp award.
Second: Once you have completed your dance card, you can choose to start over from the beginning. If you sing with everyone a second time, you earn the coveted Busy Bee award! You must complete your Tramp Award before starting on your Busy Bee. If you have finished Tramp, but not Super Tramp, you can work on Super Tramp and Busy Bee at the same time.
There are two options for tracking who you’ve sung with. We have printed out some sheets of paper with everyone’s name and you can cross names out as you sing with people.
For those who prefer a digital solution, we have created a digital dance card. Every singer will have a QR code inside their name tag. If you scan that QR code it will take you to your digital dance card. Folks who have been to other brigades will be familiar with this idea, although we are using a different app than other brigades.
There is a second option to get to your dance card: If you have a Google account, and the e-mail associated with that Google account is the same e-mail you used to sign up for the brigade, you can go to https://tramp.brigadeontherange.org/ and login, and you will be taken to your dance card automatically. If you have a Google Account, but used a different e-mail to sign up for Brigade, let me know and I can switch the e-mails in the system so you can log in. Your QR code will work no matter what.
Our guest quartets members are on the dance card. However, singing with them is optional.
Lastly, this whole program runs on the honor system. Please try to sing with everyone and track it honestly. The real reward of the Tramp award isn’t a little plaque, it’s getting to sing with all your other fabulous Rangers!
Nic Cols Ambassador Award
In honor of harmony brigade regular Nic Cols, who passed away last year, we give away the Nic Cols Ambassador Award. This award is voted on by participants in the brigade. You should vote for the person you felt most embodied the ideals of preparedness, good singing, and good fellowship. Last year’s winners (a three-way tie between Rachael Storey-Chase, Dan Gras, and Joe Grimme) are ineligible, although they will almost certainly continue to embody those ideals. You will have opportunity to vote on Saturday, and the award will be given out Saturday evening.
